FAQs
Do I need planning permission?
As each building is bespoke and the use of the stone building can vary, this can be advised individually. In general terms however outbuildings do fall under permitted development (not requiring planning) if they fall within certain criteria’s, such as not exceeding certain heights, position within the plot etc. Please see Outbuildings - Guide to permitted development (planningportal.co.uk) for further details.

How long do they take to build?
This will depend on how the stone is dressed and the size of the chosen design. For example, a standard 4m pod would take approx. 3-4 week.
What can I customise?
Pretty much everything. Unlike brick or render even the way the stone is laid is customisable, so they can be made to feel very rustic through to contemporary by just the way the stone is dressed and laid. Other finishes such as bar tops, pizza over design, wine storage, seating, lighting, plumbing, flooring can all make your stone garden building unique to just you!

What Roof?
The designs lend themselves to either being exposed stone work, open roofed, glass top or covered in grass so it blends into its surroundings. Again this can be customised to your requirements.
Can you add Heating?
Due to the natural qualities of stone the building has a great ability to maintain at desirable temperatures, even in the hottest weather the sunken wine cellar will keep your wine cool, and it the cold months your living space can stay cosy! However to ensure your building can be used all year around heating can be installed - electric storage heaters, plumbed radiators, log burners, or even underfloor heating!
How Do I light the space with no flat ceilings?
These versatile building can lend themselves to having an array of different types and styles of lighting. Floor lighting can really enhance the beauty of the stonework and wall lighting can give a practical lighting solution, as with everything else this can be customised to suit your needs.
